Connection issues usually fall into one of three categories: authorization failures, missing accounts, or expired tokens. Here is how to diagnose and fix them.

Common Issues

Authorization Fails or Gets Stuck

Symptoms: The OAuth popup closes without completing, or you see a generic error after authorizing. Solutions:
  • Disable browser pop-up blockers for app.detrics.io
  • Clear your browser cookies and try again
  • Make sure you are authorizing with the correct account (e.g., the Google account that has Google Ads access, not a personal one)
  • Try using an incognito/private browser window

No Accounts Appear After Connecting

Symptoms: The connection succeeds but no ad accounts or properties are listed. Solutions:
  • Verify that the account you authorized with actually has access to the data. For example, with Meta Ads, you need admin or analyst role on the ad account.
  • For Google Ads, make sure your Google account is linked to the MCC or individual ad account.
  • Wait a few seconds and refresh — account loading can sometimes take a moment.

Connection Shows “Expired” or “Disconnected”

Symptoms: A previously working connection stops working, or shows a warning badge. Solutions:
  • Reconnect the platform from the Data Sources page. Click on the platform, find the expired connection, and click the reconnect button.
  • If you recently changed your password on the platform, you will need to reauthorize.
  • For Meta/Facebook connections, token expiration can happen if Facebook detects unusual activity. Reconnecting resolves this.

Data Returns Empty or Errors

Symptoms: Queries run but return no data or throw errors. Solutions:
  • Check that the account you selected actually has data for the time period you are querying
  • Verify the connection is still active in Data Sources
